this is a young coconut
it is fucking delicious and very nutritious. instead of milk there is coconut water inside, which I drink fresh or put into smoothies. the coconut meat is really soft and easy to scoop up with a spoon. it’s super fun to eat it right out of the coconut.
here’s your basic guide to making a kickass salad. salads don’t have to be boring, bland & nutritionally void. if you put the right stuff in there, they can super tasty & full of vitamins, fat, protein, etc.
pick your base/ greens: lettuce, cabbage, arugula, bok choy, kale, chard, spinach, seaweed, dandelion greens. so many options here!
pick your veggies: i’m not gonna list all the veggies in the world - my favorites for salads are water chestnuts, beets, carrots, bean sprouts, onions & more
pick your fruits: fruit is so good in salad!! you can put mandarin oranges in an asian salad. apple is good in almost any salad. avocados and tomatoes are amazing. more exotic fruits like pomegranates & persimmons can be tasty too.
pick your legumes: chopped up brazil nuts or cashews, kidney or garbanzo beans, sunflower seeds or lentils!! a great source of protein & add deliciousness & crunch.
pick your dressing: you can make a garlic vinaigrette, an asian dressing with ginger, chili oil, sesame oil, rice vinegar & soy sauce, a sweet & tangy sauce with orange juice and a bit of balsamic vinegar - the list goes on. you can do spicy, sweet, sour, or any combination thereof. whatever best fits the salad ya made.
